RECEIVING MANAGER

Job Purpose
The Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing all incoming stock, materials, and supplier deliveries to ensure that goods received are accurate, properly documented, and safely stored. The role is critical in maintaining stock accuracy, preventing losses, and ensuring efficient warehouse operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesReceiving Operations
- Manage and supervise all receiving activities.
- Ensure all incoming deliveries are checked against supplier invoices, delivery notes, and purchase orders.
- Verify quantities, quality, and specifications of goods received.
- Ensure all discrepancies, shortages, damages, or incorrect deliveries are reported immediately.
- Coordinate unloading and safe handling of all incoming stock.
Stock Control
- Ensure all received stock is accurately captured on the system.
- Maintain accurate stock records and inventory levels.
- Monitor stock movements and transfers.
- Investigate and report stock variances.
- Participate in stock counts and stock take procedures.
Supplier Deliveries
- Liaise with suppliers regarding shortages, damages, returns, and outstanding items.
- Ensure supplier documentation is completed correctly.
- Maintain good working relationships with suppliers and transporters.
Team Management
- Supervise receiving staff and warehouse assistants.
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance.
- Ensure staff comply with company procedures and safety requirements.
- Provide training and support where required.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate receiving records and filing systems.
- Ensure all delivery notes, invoices, and receiving documents are properly filed.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly receiving reports to management.
- Monitor receiving KPIs and warehouse performance.
Health & Safety
- Ensure all receiving activities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe practices immediately.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Minimum 3 years' experience in receiving, warehouse, logistics, or stock control management.
- Strong understanding of inventory and stock control processes.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Excel, inventory systems, ERP systems).
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver's licence will be advantageous.
