Qualified Diesel Mechanic
Location: Bedfordview, Gauteng
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

A well-established transport and logistics company is seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Diesel Mechanic to join its maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining a fleet of heavy commercial vehicles to ensure maximum uptime, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and identify potential issues.
Repair and replace defective components, parts, and systems.
Respond to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs when required.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety and industry standards.
Complete job cards, maintenance records, and workshop documentation accurately.
Work closely with Fleet Controllers and Operations teams to minimize vehicle downtime.
Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working order.
Assist in managing spare parts inventory and reporting parts requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience working on heavy commercial vehicles and trailers.
Experience within the transport, logistics, or fleet industry.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Knowledge of truck brands such as Volvo, Scania, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Hino, or similar will be advantageous.
Valid driver's license (Code EC preferred).
Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and attend to breakdowns when required.
