Ohmni Recruitment is assisting a client in the electrical and engineering sector with the appointment of an experienced Project Manager – Electrical Design & Projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing electrical projects from design phase through to installation, commissioning, and final handover. This role requires strong project management ability, solid electrical design understanding, and the confidence to coordinate technical teams, clients, suppliers, contractors, and site personnel.
The ideal candidate must be able to work well under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and keep projects moving even when priorities change, challenges arise, or urgent decisions need to be made.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage electrical projects from concept/design stage through to completion and handover.
Oversee and coordinate electrical design activities, drawings, layouts, specifications, and project documentation.
Review electrical designs, schematics, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, panel layouts, and related technical documentation.
Coordinate with electrical designers, engineers, draughting teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
Plan project timelines, resources, materials, procurement requirements, and budgets.
Drive project progress to ensure deadlines, milestones, and deliverables are met.
Manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality, safety, and project standards.
Ensure electrical designs and installations comply with relevant standards, specifications, safety requirements, and client expectations.
Monitor project progress, site execution, quality, costs, and deadlines.
Manage design changes, project risks, technical queries, and client requirements effectively under pressure.
Attend site meetings, design reviews, progress meetings, and project handovers.
Provide technical input during planning, installation, commissioning, and close-out phases.
Prepare project reports, progress updates, documentation, and handover packs.
Minimum Requirements:
Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Project Management, or a related technical field.
Proven experience in electrical project management within an industrial, engineering, manufacturing, automation, or construction environment.
Strong understanding of electrical design principles, electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, panel layouts, and site installations.
Experience coordinating electrical design teams, draughtsmen, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
Ability to read, interpret, and review electrical drawings and technical documentation.
Proven ability to work under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and deliver projects within agreed timelines.
Strong planning, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and client-facing skills.
Ability to manage multiple project priorities without losing focus on quality and detail.
Good understanding of electrical standards, compliance, safety requirements, and commissioning processes.
Valid driver’s licence.
Computer literacy and experience with project planning/reporting tools.
Advantageous:
Experience with industrial automation, control systems, PLC/SCADA projects, MCCs, control panels, instrumentation, or process plants.
Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, mining, water treatment, petrochemical, packaging, or industrial environments.
Project Management certification would be beneficial.
Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar would be advantageous.
