Key Responsibilities
- Operate, inspect, and maintain HVAC systems throughout the ship.
- Maintain refrigeration systems for galleys, cold rooms, freezers, and provision stores.
- Troubleshoot and repair chillers, compressors, air-handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), pumps, and ventilation systems.
- Monitor temperatures, pressures, and refrigerant levels to ensure efficient system performance.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to the planned maintenance system (PMS).
- Repair electrical and mechanical faults in HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations governing refrigerants.
- Keep maintenance records and complete work orders.
- Respond to HVAC and refrigeration emergencies to minimize operational disruptions.
- Work closely with hotel operations and engineering teams to ensure passenger comfort.
Requirements
- Diploma, trade qualification, or degree in Refrigeration, HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience maintaining commercial or industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, compressors, chillers, ventilation systems, and electrical controls.
- Experience with marine HVAC systems is an advantage.
- Valid STCW basic safety training is typically required for employment onboard.
- Good English communication skills.
- Ability to work contracts of approximately 4–6 months, depending on the cruise line.
Pay: R30 000,00 - R35 000,00 per month
