Accounting Manager

Location: South Africa
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Saturday work may be required based on business needs)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the organization's accounting operations, ensure compliance with South African financial regulations, and provide accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, experience using NetSuite, and a solid understanding of South African tax legislation and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with South African tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and other statutory requirements.
Monitor financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
Maintain and improve accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
Ensure compliance with IFRS and the South African Companies Act.
Prepare financial reports and provide insights to support business decision-making.
Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies as required.
Manage cash flow reporting and budget monitoring.
Support payroll accounting and related reconciliations.
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiency.
Maintain strict confidentiality and professional ethical standards.

Minimum Requirements

Education

Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (NQF Level 5-6).

Experience

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar accounting role within the South African business environment.

Technical Knowledge

Proficiency in NetSuite or similar accounting software.
Strong understanding of South African tax legislation, including VAT, PAYE, and statutory reporting requirements.
Knowledge of IFRS and the Companies Act.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Skills & Competencies

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
Afrikaans language skills will be considered an advantage.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
