Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented TIG Welder to join our fast-paced fabrication team. This role focuses on producing clean, high-quality, and cosmetic welds on thin-gauge sheet metal. The successful candidate will work primarily with stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel components. If you take deep pride in precise workmanship and flawless structural finishing, this position offers an excellent opportunity to showcase your craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Perform precision TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel sheet metal components.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to execute accurate setups.
Prepare metal surfaces by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and degreasing materials prior to welding.
Operate specialized workshop tools including grinders, sheet metal benders, and cutting torches safely.
Inspect finished welds to ensure zero defects, optimal fusion, and compliance with strict cosmetic standards.
Fabricate custom jigs and fixtures to assist in repeatable, high-accuracy production runs.
Maintain equipment and troubleshoot minor faults with TIG power sources, torches, and gas regulators.
Keep workspace orderly and follow all safety protocols, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Required Qualifications & Experience

Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a TIG Welder within a sheet metal manufacturing or precision fabrication environment.
Material Expertise: Demonstrated ability to produce neat, structurally sound welds on thin-gauge aluminium and stainless steel.
Technical Skills: Proficient in adjusting welding parameters (amperage, gas flow, tungsten choice) based on material thickness and type.
Education: Grade 12 or equivalent technical qualification is preferred.
Certifications: Relevant trade test or coded welding certifications are highly advantageous but exceptional practical skill remains the priority.
Physical Ability: Comfortable working with hand tools, managing precise tasks for extended periods, and maintaining sharp focus.

Key Competencies

Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for creating aesthetically flawless cosmetic welds.
Strong spatial awareness to transform 2D technical drawings into completed 3D components.
Good time management skills to consistently meet strict production and project schedules.
Excellent teamwork and open communication to collaborate efficiently with workshop supervisors and design teams.
