Salary: R20,000–R25,000 per month, depending on experience
About the company
We operate a busy automotive dismantling and distribution warehouse specialising in quality second-hand engines, transmissions and engine parts.
Our operation includes dismantling engines and components, washing and cleaning parts, assessing their condition, assigning QR codes, recording inventory on our stock and sales management system, and distributing products to various companies and customers.
We are looking for an energetic, organised and hands-on Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the Warehouse Manager with the efficient day-to-day running of the facility. The successful candidate must be capable of taking full operational responsibility for the warehouse when the Warehouse Manager is absent.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Warehouse Manager with the daily operation of the warehouse.
- Help supervise and coordinate forklift drivers, floor assemblers, dismantlers, parts personnel and cleaning staff.
- Allocate daily duties and monitor employee productivity and performance.
- Ensure engines, transmissions and parts move efficiently through dismantling, cleaning, assessment, coding, storage and dispatch.
- Monitor the accurate QR coding, labelling and recording of stock.
- Ensure inventory movements are correctly captured on the company’s inventory and sales platform.
- Work closely with the Parts Manager to maintain stock accuracy and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Coordinate receiving, storage, picking, loading and dispatch activities.
- Conduct regular stock and warehouse floor checks.
- Ensure orders are prepared accurately and dispatched on time.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment.
- Ensure staff follow health and safety procedures and use equipment correctly.
- Report damaged stock, equipment problems, safety risks and operational delays.
- Assist with staff attendance, discipline, training and performance management.
- Communicate effectively with management, employees, customers and transport providers.
- Take responsibility for warehouse operations when the Warehouse Manager is unavailable.
Minimum requirements
- At least three years of warehouse, stores, logistics or distribution experience.
- Previous experience supervising or leading warehouse employees.
- Experience working with inventory or warehouse management software.
- Good computer skills and confidence using digital stock-control systems.
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately in a busy, physically demanding warehouse.
- Willingness to work on the warehouse floor and assist with operational duties when required.
- A reliable, energetic and hands-on management style.
- Ability to manage employees firmly, fairly and professionally.
- A valid South African driver’s licence.
Preferred experience
- Experience in the automotive parts, vehicle dismantling, engineering, recycling or mechanical-components industry.
- Knowledge of engines, transmissions and vehicle components.
- Experience using QR codes, barcode systems or digital stock-tracking systems.
- Forklift knowledge or a valid forklift licence.
- Health and safety or first-aid training.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate is energetic, dependable and highly organised. You should be comfortable working in an active warehouse environment, leading employees, enforcing procedures and taking ownership of operational problems.
This is not a desk-only position. The successful candidate will be expected to remain visible on the warehouse floor, monitor workflow closely and help the team maintain high standards of productivity, stock accuracy, safety and housekeeping.
What we offer
- A permanent position in a growing automotive-parts business.
- A salary based on experience and operational capability.
- A practical, fast-moving working environment.
