Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for 6 Samplers to join the team in City Deep, Johannesburg. The position is responsible for effectively preparing all received samples timeously as per Sample Preparations procedures to ensure a high degree of precision and accuracy is achieved from subsequent analytical procedures whilst complying with all SHEQ procedures.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbent will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential
-
Inspecting and / or weighing of commodities and loading of containers at client’s premises / warehouses / mines.
- Sampling of commodities at our premises or independent warehouses / mines.
- Ensuring at all times that a high degree of accuracy and precision is applied to sampling/surveying through incorporating and promoting good sampling practice principles. And for ensuring that work throughput is followed in accordance with documented methods and procedures (SOP’s). It is the post holder’s responsibility to inform the Supervisor of any failure in compliance to documented methods.
- Advising the Team Leader of repetitive technical problems relating to day-to-day sampling procedures.
- Maintaining record keeping, such that work is clearly and easily auditable, and traceable within the guidelines of AHK.
- Sample preparation for analysis.
- Submitting Tally Sheets / Shift Sheets and Photos on a daily basis.
- Assist personnel in the prep area when not occupied with Sampling Related work
- Assist with the storage and disposal of bulk reserve samples as necessary.
- Follow instructions from your superiors.
- Observe the features and marks of the commodities.
- Record all information and discrepancies neatly and accurately, and report timeously in accordance with deadlines and client requirements.
- Record dates, times and shift sheets accurately to assist in preparing invoices which are fair to you, the company and clients.
- Assist senior staff and work with outside parties to the benefit of clients and the company.
- Treat and / or maintain company equipment with appropriate care and attention.
- Act in accordance with the standard procedures and professional integrity of the company.
- Respect and maintain confidentiality regarding clients, locations and commodities being handled.
Other ad hoc duties may be requested by the Inspector, Junior Inspector or Branch Manager from time to time.

Required Work Experience

Minimum of 3 years working experience working in a Sample Preparation or Laboratory environment (advantageous)
Required Qualifications

Grade 12 (With Maths and Science)
