We require the services of a Community Enrolled Nurse who will be responsible for providing holistic nursing care to Palliative patients and their family in community and home home-based settings, ensuring comfort, dignity, symptom management, continuity of care and adherence to hospice policies and nursing standard.
ENTRY-LEVEL QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Enrolled Nurse qualification registered with the South African Nursing Council.
- Current and valid SANC registration as an Enrolled Nurse.
- Minimum 1 – 2 years nursing experience in a healthcare setting as an enrolled nurse.
- Basic knowledge of palliative and hospice care principles.
- Knowledge of chronic disease management, including cancer, HIV/AIDS, TB, and other life-limiting conditions.
- Understanding of infections prevention and control of practices.
- Knowledge of medication administration within scope of practice.
- Ability to maintain accurate patient records and reports.
- Understanding of patient rights, confidentiality and ethical nursing practice.
- Ability to work under the supervision of a Professional Nurse.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Unendorsed manual driver’s license.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Clinical Nursing Care: Quality of nursing interventions, symptom management, patient outcomes.
- Home Visits: The quality of scheduled visits completed as per planning.
- Documentation & Record keeping: Accuracy with completeness and timeliness of records.
- Interdisciplinary Team Participation: Excellent teamwork and communication with full participation in IDT processes within scope of practice.
- Meeting attendance, Training and Professional development.
- Quality, Compliance and Health & Safety protocols.
- Statistical reports.
- Perform other duties in support of team goals.

ADDED ADVANTAGES:
- Certificate or short course in Palliative Care or Hospice Care.
- Previous experience in community-based healthcare or home-based care.
- Experience working in a hospice or palliative care setting.
- Experience caring for oncology, HIV/AIDS, TB, geriatric or end-of-life patients.
- Ability to speak additional local languages relevant to the service area.
- Fluency in at least 2 official languages.
- Understanding of Palliative care and it role in society.
