A busy, fast-paced African Grillhouse, Nineteen 45 Fourways, is looking for energetic, reliable, and passionate kitchen staff to join our team.
POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
Grillers: Expert at managing high-volume grill stations and precise meat temperatures. Understanding different cuts of meats and cooking techniques.
Traditional Chefs: Expert at cooking Traditional African cuisine, understanding local ingredients
Line Chefs: Fast, organized, and experienced with hot-line prep, sauces, and busy service.
Pizza Chefs: Great understanding of dough products, bulk fermentation and pizza prep.
Young Talent / Commis Chefs: Eager culinary graduates or junior cooks ready to learn the craft of a premium grillhouse.
LOCATION:Fourways,Sandton
Applicants must live nearby or have reliable transport for shift work.

Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service:
Prepare, cook, and present a wide variety of dishes in accordance with restaurant recipes and quality standards. Ensure food is prepared and served consistently to the highest standards of taste, quality, and presentation. Assist the Executive Chef with menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal menu updates. Ensure timely preparation and service during busy meal periods.
Kitchen Operations:
Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient work station. Ensure proper storage, labelling, and rotation of food using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principle. Monitor stock levels and notify the Executive Chef of ordering requirements. Minimise food waste through effective stock control and portion management. Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance issues promptly.
Food Safety & Hygiene:
Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards. Ensure compliance with HACCP principles and Occupational Health and Safety requirements. Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all food preparation and storage areas. Ensure food is stored and handled correctly to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
Teamwork & Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen brigade to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Assist with training and mentoring junior chefs and kitchen assistants where required. Support colleagues during peak service periods and major events. Maintain effective communication with the Front Of House,to ensure seamless service delivery.
Minimum Requirements:
National Certificate or Diploma in Professional Cookery, Culinary Arts, or an equivalent qualification. Minimum of 2–3 years' experience as a Chef in a similar role, restaurant, or catering environment. Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards. Experience in Traditional African cuisine , à la carte, and grilling are advantageous.

8-hour shifts 4 days a week. (Rotational roster including weekends and public holidays).
Valid South African ID or legal work permit.
SALARY & BENEFITS:Negotiable salary based on your industry experience and trial shift.Excellent growth and training opportunities for young talent.
