The African Union Development Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Programme Assistant.
Under the supervision of the Project Officer (ICD-SMC), the Programme Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative, logistical and operational support to the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the ICD-SMC project. The role ensures smooth day-to-day project operations through effective document management, coordination of meetings and missions across multiple countries, support to procurement and financial recordkeeping, travel and event logistics, and facilitation of communication among project stakeholders, including Member States, RECs, development partners and technical consultants. The Project Administration Assistant works under the supervision of the Project Officers and the PMU and contributes to the timely, compliant and efficient delivery of project outputs across all four components.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Working knowledge of digital collaboration tools (SharePoint, OneDrive, MS Teams) and project management software.
- Excellent time-management and written/oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of online marketing channels and industry standard CMS systems e.g. Drupal.
- Proficiency in the use of computer applications, Digital Filing Systems, MS Office and SAP ERP.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure with a wide range of individuals and institutions.
- Able to work under minimal supervision, be proactive, take initiative and exercise sound judgment.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Maintain confidentiality at the highest level at all times.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good analytical, planning and organisational skills.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of a High School Certificate and a Diploma in Business Administration, Administrative Management, Public Relations, Creative Writing, Communication, Project Management, Secretarial studies or a related field and at least five (5) years of progressive work in project administration support within development projects in an international, regional or national organisation.
Experience:
- Experience in office administration, communication, writing, public relations, document management and logistical coordination.
- Prior experience supporting meetings and events for businesses.
- Experience providing secretariat support for governance meetings and events.
Hands-on experience in digital content and/or social media management

Remuneration:
Indicative basic salary of US$19,701.71 per annum plus other entitlements e.g., Post Adjustment (46% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($16,813.44 per annum), gratuity (15% of gross salary) in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
