We are looking for a commercially astute Financial Controller to take ownership of financial control, reporting discipline, and operational insight within a fast-moving sports betting and iGaming business in Cape Town.
This is not a back-office reporting role. You will sit at the intersection of finance, operations, compliance, payments, and leadership—ensuring that every rand is accounted for, every process is defensible, and management has the clarity to make sharper decisions.

The Role:
As Financial Controller, you will lead the day-to-day financial control environment while strengthening systems, reporting, and governance across the business. You will be trusted to challenge inconsistencies, identify risk early, and turn financial data into meaningful commercial intelligence.
Key Responsibilities

Own the month-end process, ensuring accurate, timely, and insightful management reporting.

Lead balance-sheet reconciliations, revenue reconciliations, payment-provider reconciliations, and cash-flow oversight.

Manage the general ledger, journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.

Maintain a robust financial-control framework across betting, gaming, payments, bonuses, customer funds, and operational expenditure.

Produce management accounts, variance analysis, forecasts, and commentary for senior leadership.

Support annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and commercial planning.

Ensure compliance with relevant tax, regulatory, audit, and statutory reporting obligations.

Partner with internal and external auditors, advisors, banks, payment providers, and other key stakeholders.

Improve finance processes, controls, reporting automation, and systems capability.

Lead, mentor, and develop members of the finance team.

Work closely with operational, commercial, product, risk, and compliance teams to ensure financial accuracy across the customer journey.
What You Bring

A relevant finance qualification: CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, SAIPA, or equivalent.

Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or senior accounting role.

Experience within iGaming, sports betting, fintech, payments, e-commerce, or another high-volume transactional environment will be highly advantageous.

Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, cash management, VAT, and statutory compliance.

Exceptional Excel capability and confidence working with ERP, accounting, payment, and reporting systems.

A sharp eye for detail, with the commercial confidence to investigate anomalies rather than merely report them.

The ability to perform under pressure, prioritise effectively, and maintain control in a fast-changing environment.

Strong leadership and stakeholder-management capability.
