PURPOSE OF ROLE
Lesedi Nuclear Services, a design and project management company, strives to deliver projects on time. The Planner (Nuclear) is responsible for ensuring that project programmes are developed and maintained to the required standard, kept up to date with actual progress, and analysed to ensure credibility — supporting the Project Management Team throughout the project lifecycle.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Project Planning and Scheduling

Support the Project Management Team with planning and scheduling decisions and advice throughout the project life cycle

Define and develop the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and develop credible, quality project programmes
-
Support development of the Cost and Schedule Management Plans
-
Maintain project programmes/schedules/plans that accurately reflect scope, WBS, tasks, durations, relationships, contractual milestones, constraints, and resource requirements

Establish appropriate performance metrics (dashboards, S-curves, Earned Value Analysis, resource histograms) to indicate project health and communicate these regularly
-
Utilise planning software (Primavera, MS Projects, IFS) to the standard required by relevant contracts
-
Continuously monitor and control projects by documenting progress against plan, and distribute updated master, detail, and look-ahead programmes as dictated by the contract
-
Document programme changes via the change control (CR) process and provide feedback to Line Management on planning systems integrity
-
Proactively gather activity status information through contractor updates, site visits/walkdowns, and internal stakeholder input

Participate in project wash-up meetings
Assist Project Managers in Project Reporting

Support Project Managers with progress and performance reporting, including monthly planning reports

Keep project teams, clients, and contractors informed on upcoming interfaces, deadlines and milestones, project performance/health, and identified risks with recommended mitigations
Support Departmental and Company Processes

Maintain familiarity with Nuclear Projects departmental processes and apply company planning processes, proposing improvements where identified

Keep abreast of international planning/scheduling developments and best practices
-
Attend approved training/seminars and participate in relevant forums (e.g. Primavera Online Interaction)
General

Participate in preparing tenders
-
Transfer skills to others within the organisation and provide guidance on best practices to colleagues

Participate in identifying potential unsafe conditions and reporting incidents
QUALIFICATION
- Qualified artisan in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation, or a recognised qualification in Industrial/Process/Manufacturing Engineering

Professional planner certification (PMI, AACE) would be advantageous
-
Nuclear experience would be advantageous.
EXPERIENCE
-
2–4 years' relevant practical experience in a technical field, including at least 4 years planning design and construction projects using recognised planning software (Primavera, MS Projects)
