Job Description
AECOM is looking to recruit a Candidate Engineer - Geotechnical
Here’s what we’re looking for:

Eagerness to learn and grow within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a wide range of ground engineering and infrastructure projects.

Ability to assist with site investigations, including organising fieldwork, logging soils and rocks, supervising contractors, and compiling factual information for reporting.

Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to apply fundamental soil and rock mechanics principles to real‑world design problems under guidance from senior engineers.

Interest in developing technical skills, including geotechnical design of foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and earthworks, with training and mentorship provided.

Enthusiasm for producing clear, well‑structured technical documents, such as desk studies, factual reports, field logs, and preliminary design notes.

Willingness to learn industry‑standard software, such as geotechnical modelling tools, slope stability programs, and CAD platforms.

Good communication skills, with the confidence to engage with colleagues, ask questions, and present your work effectively.

A proactive approach to problem solving, taking initiative and showing curiosity when exploring new geotechnical challenges.

Commitment to professional development, including working towards professional registration over time.
Qualifications

Minimum of 0-4 years’ experience in geotechnical investigation and design work post undergraduate degree

BSc degree in Geotechnical engineering or related (Hons would be advantageous)

Excellent knowledge of development and implementation of geotechnical investigations.

Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineer
