Full Job Description

WPM Consulting (Pty) Ltd is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Environmental Specialist / Ecologist to join our team.

Minimum Requirements

Relevant qualification in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Ecology, Nature Conservation, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in:
Alien plant management
Environmental compliance
Environmental monitoring and management
Proficiency in ArcGIS / ArcGIS Pro.
Proof of ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro training certification or academic records demonstrating GIS competency.
Strong understanding of environmental legislation, compliance requirements and ecological management practices.
Good report-writing, communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Willingness to work in the field and travel to project sites when required.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct environmental inspections, assessments and compliance monitoring.
Develop and implement alien and invasive plant management programmes.
Monitor and report on environmental risks, impacts and compliance.
Assist with environmental management plans and mitigation measures.
Conduct site assessments and ecological surveys where required.
Use ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro to capture, analyse and present spatial/environmental data.
Prepare professional environmental reports, registers and compliance documentation.
Ensure environmental activities comply with applicable legislation, permits, standards and client requirements.
Liaise with clients, contractors, environmental authorities and other stakeholders.
Provide environmental guidance and support to project teams.
Maintain accurate records of environmental activities, findings and corrective actions.
