WPM Consulting (Pty) Ltd is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Environmental Specialist / Ecologist to join our team.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Ecology, Nature Conservation, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in:
- Alien plant management
- Environmental compliance
- Environmental monitoring and management
- Proficiency in ArcGIS / ArcGIS Pro.
- Proof of ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro training certification or academic records demonstrating GIS competency.
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, compliance requirements and ecological management practices.
- Good report-writing, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to work in the field and travel to project sites when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental inspections, assessments and compliance monitoring.
- Develop and implement alien and invasive plant management programmes.
- Monitor and report on environmental risks, impacts and compliance.
- Assist with environmental management plans and mitigation measures.
- Conduct site assessments and ecological surveys where required.
- Use ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro to capture, analyse and present spatial/environmental data.
- Prepare professional environmental reports, registers and compliance documentation.
- Ensure environmental activities comply with applicable legislation, permits, standards and client requirements.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, environmental authorities and other stakeholders.
- Provide environmental guidance and support to project teams.
- Maintain accurate records of environmental activities, findings and corrective actions.
