We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Senior Professional Construction Manager to oversee complex construction projects from initiation to practical completion and final hand-over. The successful candidate will lead project delivery, manage multidisciplinary site teams, ensure strict compliance with quality and safety standards, and maintain strict financial and operational control across project life cycles.
You will be responsible for but not limited to:
Project Execution & Site Management
- Lead, coordinate, and supervise all on-site construction activities to ensure completion within scheduled timeframes, budget constraints, and quality standards.
- Develop, monitor, and update baseline master schedules using software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Oversee site staff, main contractors, sub-contractors, and specialist vendors to ensure seamless site operations.
Contract Administration & Financial Control
- Administer standard construction contracts (JBCC, FIDIC, NEC3/4, or GCC).
- Oversee monthly valuations, variations, payment certificates, claims, and final account settlements in collaboration with Quantity Surveyors.
- Proactively manage project risks, claims, and dispute mitigation procedures.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Compliance
- Enforce total compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Construction Regulations, and environmental guidelines on site.
- Drive high-quality workmanship through regular inspections, quality management plans, and snag-list resolutions.
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for clients, principal agents, engineers, architects, and local authorities.
- Lead weekly site progress meetings and prepare comprehensive progress reports for executive management and project steering committees
Education:
BSc / BTech / Higher Diploma in Construction Management, Building Science, or Civil Engineering (NQF 7+)
Registration: Current and valid Pr.CM registration with SACPCMP
Experience: 8–10 years of relevant construction management experience on site (preferably handling projects with values exceeding R[X] Million)
Technical Knowledge:
Deep knowledge of South African building regulations (SANS 10400) and OHSA
Proficiency in contract administration (JBCC, FIDIC, GCC, NEC)
Advanced proficiency in project scheduling tools (MS Project / Primavera P6) and MS Office Suite
SACPCMP Registration: Active registration as a Professional Construction Manager (Pr.CM) with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions is strictly required
Experience: 8 to 10 years of proven, post-qualification experience managing medium- to large-scale commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
