As an Applied Artificial Intelligence Intern at Zlto, you will gain hands-on experience in applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies to real-world challenges. You will support the development of AI-powered solutions that improve user experiences, automate processes, generate insights, and create greater impact for youth across Africa.
Working closely with product, engineering, and data teams, you will learn how AI technologies are designed, tested, deployed, and monitored in a production environment. This internship is ideal for individuals who are passionate about AI, innovation, problem-solving, and using technology to drive positive social change.
This internship is designed as a stepping stone into a Junior AI Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, or AI Solutions Specialist role.
Key ResponsibilitiesAI Development & Learning
- Assist in the development and testing of AI-powered applications and features.
- Support machine learning model training, evaluation, and optimization activities.
- Assist in preparing and processing datasets for AI and machine learning projects.
- Participate in the implementation of Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) solutions.
- Help monitor AI model performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with software developers, data scientists, and product teams to understand business challenges and AI opportunities.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, project discussions, and innovation sessions.
- Assist with documenting AI workflows, experiments, and project outcomes.
- Contribute research on emerging AI technologies and industry best practices.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience Essential
- Studying towards or recently completed a qualification in Applied Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic programming knowledge in Python.
- Foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated interest in using technology to solve real-world problems and create social impact.
Pay: R5 500,00 per month
