Operations Manager

Job Description – Cape Town Wine Hub

Cape Town Wine Hub is seeking a highly organised, driven, and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our warehouse and production environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and improving operational processes while ensuring efficiency, accuracy, productivity, and high service standards. This role requires a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple projects, deadlines, and teams simultaneously.

The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, deadline-driven, highly accurate, and capable of maintaining operational excellence while driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations.
Manage warehouse workflows including labelling, waxing, reworks, stock handling, and dispatch.
Manage operational systems (Carton Cloud, Jotform, Excel, and related platforms).
Plan workloads, assign responsibilities, and prepare staff schedules.
Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously to ensure deadlines and operational targets are met.
Implement and maintain operational policies, procedures, and process improvements.
Conduct operational benchmarking against industry standards to improve efficiency, cost control, and service delivery.
Manage inventory control and ensure stock accuracy.
Implement warehouse safety and security procedures.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of warehouse equipment and fleet vehicles.
Maintain accurate operational records and reporting.
Oversee fleet readiness and vehicle usage.
Assist with deliveries where required.
Lead, train, motivate, and develop staff.
Manage performance and ensure KPI targets are met.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and service providers.
Identify and implement operational improvements to support business growth.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse or operations management.
Strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong planning, organisational, and multitasking skills.
Experience managing teams in a high-volume operational setting.
Strong leadership and people management abilities.
Ability to train, monitor, and develop staff effectively.
Deadline-driven with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Computer literacy, including warehouse systems and Microsoft Excel.
Experience with operational benchmarking and KPI tracking (advantageous).
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Valid driver’s licence required.
Forklift experience advantageous.
Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
