The Junior Accountant:
The successful candidate will support the team in performing daily reconciliations, processing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end close activities. This role is well-suited to a recent graduate or someone who has recently completed or is currently completing their articles, and who is eager to build their career in a dynamic, fast-paced fintech and payments environment.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience. Exposure to a payments, fintech, or high-volume transaction environment is advantageous but not essential.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level minimum). Exposure to SAP or another ERP system is advantageous.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is non-negotiable in this role. The candidate must take pride in producing error-free work, particularly when processing and reconciling transactions.
- A can-do attitude with a willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative. The successful candidate is reliable, punctual, and committed to meeting deadlines consistently.
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable escalating issues clearly and concisely to the Team Lead or Financial Manager when required.
- Collaborative and supportive team member who contributes positively to the team culture. Willing to assist colleagues and step in where needed during busy periods.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift. Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and remain composed under pressure.
1. Reconciliations
Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, payment partner accounts, and balance sheet accounts. Identify, investigate, and escalate reconciling items promptly to the Team Lead. Ensure no reconciling items remain unresolved beyond 48 hours.
2. Transaction Processing & Capturing
Accurately capture and process financial transactions in SAP and other relevant systems. Ensure all entries are complete, correctly coded, and supported by appropriate documentation.
3. Month-End Close Support
Assist the finance team with month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations. Support the team in meeting all month-end deadlines.
4. Financial Reporting Support
Assist in compiling data and schedules required for monthly management accounts and financial reports. Ensure information provided is accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
5. Data Integrity & Quality Control
Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial data entered into systems. Flag discrepancies or anomalies to the Team Lead immediately and assist with investigation and correction.
6. Ad Hoc Support
Provide general finance support to the DCM team as required, including assistance with audits, projects, and any other tasks assigned by the Team Lead or Financial Manager.
