To lead and manage a team of Medical Aid Sales Consultants in driving sustainable membership growth across allocated employer groups and target markets.
The Team Manager is accountable for the overall sales performance, strategic direction, and operational effectiveness of the team. This includes developing and executing sales strategies, managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring alignment with Scheme objectives and regulatory requirements.
The role plays a critical part in building a high-performance sales culture, enabling team capability, and delivering consistent business results.
Roles and Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Business Performance

Develop and implement sales strategies to drive membership growth and market penetration.

Take accountability for overall team sales performance against defined targets.

Analyse sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

Oversee pipeline management to ensure a healthy flow of leads and conversions.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise sales effectiveness.
Team Leadership & Capability Development

Lead, manage, and develop a team of Medical Aid Sales Consultants.

Set clear performance objectives and monitor delivery against targets.

Drive a high-performance culture focused on accountability, results, and client experience.

Coach and mentor team members to enhance sales capability and professional growth.

Sales Execution Oversight

Provide strategic oversight of sales activities, including activations, presentations, and employer engagements.

Ensure consistency and quality in client engagement and sales delivery across the team.

Support the team in closing high-value or complex sales opportunities.

Monitor and improve lead generation and conversion strategies.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management

Build and maintain strategic relationships with key employer stakeholders, including HR, wellness coordinators, and leadership.

Engage at a senior level to secure access to employer groups and unlock new business opportunities.

Represent the Scheme in high-level engagements, events, and partnerships.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align sales initiatives with broader business objectives.
Compliance & Governance

Ensure all sales activities are conducted in line with regulatory frameworks (FAIS, POPIA) and Scheme rules.

Maintain oversight of compliance adherence across the team.

Ensure accuracy and integrity of all sales documentation and processes.

Keep the team informed of regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance training.
Reporting & Operational Management

Oversee and validate team reporting on sales activities, performance, and stakeholder engagements.

Provide consolidated insights and recommendations to senior management.

Monitor operational efficiency, including CRM usage, reporting accuracy, and administrative processes.

Manage budgets and resources related to sales activities and campaigns (where applicable).

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric
-
Relevant qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, or Healthcare (advantageous)

5–8 years’ experience in sales within medical schemes, healthcare, insurance, or financial services

Minimum 2–3 years’ senior experience in a management role

Proven track record of achieving and managing sales targets at team level

Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
