Position Title: Financial Analyst

Role Purpose
The Financial Analyst is a dual-function role responsible for managing core financial administration and accounting processes, while driving continuous improvement and modernisation of finance systems. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency, with a strong emphasis on leveraging technology (Pastel Sage 50, Excel, and BI tools) to enhance data visibility, automation, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities.
Financial Accounting & General Ledger
· Maintain accurate and complete general ledger records
· Prepare and post monthly journals (accruals, prepayments, adjustments)
· Perform balance sheet reconciliations and support month-end close
· Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
· Assist with audit preparation and year-end reporting
Accounts Payable (Creditors)
· Manage full creditors function including invoice processing and reconciliations
· Prepare and submit payment runs for approval
· Monitor ageing and ensure adherence to supplier payment terms
· Resolve supplier queries and maintain proper documentation
Banking & Cash Management
· Process and reconcile daily bank transactions
· Maintain accurate cashbooks and resolve reconciling items
· Prepare regular cash flow reports and forecasts
Tax & Statutory Compliance
· Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and related statutory returns via SARS efiling
· Assist with EMP201, EMP501, and IRP5 reconciliations
· Ensure full compliance with regulatory deadlines and requirements
· Manage SARS correspondence and maintain compliance records
Financial Reporting & Data Analysis
· Develop and maintain Excel-based reporting models and dashboards
· Produce budget vs actual reports, cost analysis, and forecasts
· Automate reporting processes using Excel tools (Power Query, pivot tables, etc.)
· Provide reliable financial insights to support management decisions
Systems Improvement & Automation
· Evaluate and optimise the current Pastel Sage 50 environment
· Implement reporting enhancements and third-party integrations (e.g., Power BI, Sage Intelligence)
· Identify and drive process automation opportunities
· Document system improvements and train users on new processes
· Support digital transformation within the finance function
Qualifications, Experience, Technical skills
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (NQF6 or higher)
- Professional certifications (SAIPA, AAT, or similar) advantageous
Preferred Experience
· Minimum 3 years in financial administration or accounting
· Strong hands-on experience with Pastel Sage 50
· Experience with SARS eFiling and statutory reporting
· Experience in the Security, or related industry
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, Power Query)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax compliance
- Exposure to BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Sage Intelligence)
