In the business we are it is difficult to plan your day ahead. Our sites were situated all over the North-West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga. I have the oppertunity to visit our sites on a regular basis, therefor I had a very good relationship with all the employees. I knew most of them (1800 employees in the company). Any one can call me any time of day and I will assist them where ever I can, even employees that resigned from our company still phones me with matters that need to be resolved.
The part of the job I dislike is to attend disciplinary cases were we need to dismiss someone. Also to attend CCMA cases. Sometimes the travelling is also not enjoyable.
Due to the fact that I am working with this company for 13 years, I have built a very strong relationship with all the co-workers and even with our Directors.

A day start with planning and prioritising a work to be done on the day and allocation of duties to surboadinates to execute.having to work with people taught me that a team work is of important in every task at hand because doing things alone will not work in your favour in most cases.And communication with the management at all times is important as the information keeps following all directions and makes the work much more easier.good relationship with the co-workers is also vital as this makes all of us to rely on one another and share information as much as we can to keep our work simpler and achieve the goal at hand.the part where i have to deal with the job overload where the results are needed in a short space of time with less resources put more frastration to me.i enjoy it when job planned to be done is completed and service provided is satisfactory.

Working for Minopex Northern Cape Plant Operations. Work was good, experience is great, could do much better with salaries though, because Minopex is known for paying well. The pension fund for an artisan is a disgrace, after almost four years having a R30 800, its very shameful. Giving people leave of 15 days a year, disgraceful, while others get 21 days and more. Artisans don't get respect from management and even by there assistants, because of management. There allowances are not covering the basic expenses, your take home salary is less every year as living prices are going up. I think head office should visit the people working at this plant and fix what their management employees have broken. There is a huge salary discrepancy between minopex and there Entities, so be careful when applying. No standby coz they only give a R500 standby allowance. They give R3 per kilo for call out. While other sites get almost R6

Job normal day started off with morning safety and hand over meetings.
Daily and routine checks involving alarms ,errors on SCADA detailing defective equipment or genuine or false alarms.
Fine tuning and troubleshooting slow or fast or erratic control loops and fixing timeously.
Attending to breakdowns, carrying out breakdown root cause analysis and solutions to prevent breakdown recurrence.
Safety precautions and procedures were priority, team work and brothers keeper principle were a culture.
Hardest part on job,being a technical expert demanded to know almost everything from plant operation to plant control and plant modifications and improvements.
Most enjoyable was when as a team there was avoidance of a breakdown,and also the achievement of plant recovery grades due to sound process control devices.

It's always busy at the stores issuing and receiving spares. walking up and down the stairs and in between doing the ordering of spares and also requesting quotations

I learned to be patient as we are dealing with different people.

Management is good, we are being treated equally. my co-workers are good also. we help each other, working as a team.eg, if I have a lot of work they come to my rescue.

The hardest part of the job is waiting for spares to be delivered and then there is a breakdown in the plant, the blame will be on us for not having the spare parts.

The most enjoyable part is knowing the spares being used in the plant, understanding what does it take for the coal to be washed, the one being used for electricity and all other types of coal.

A typical day at work starts with challenges and ends with results. Challenges in this case is refered to as problems, just in a positive way of looking it in the face and handling it.

I learned that through proper training and proper communication attitudes can be changed.

Management is the backbone of any organisations seccess.

Co-workers should work as a team. Stand together. Build trust. Be compassionate. And work hard.

The hardest part of my job is doing filling. I hate it.

The most enjoyable part of my job is to know that at the end of the day I have changed someones attitude. The way the person thinks. And that, that person has learnt something which he can apply in his personal life as well.

The environment at workplace allows to be flexible and highly productive at your daily basis Job. I have learnt a lot in terms of Metallurgical quality management, building strong and flexible team and maintaining a good relationship within a team to ensure the continuous planning, profitable and safe achievements of production targets and product quality to the satisfaction of Company's clients. To maintain good product requirements and quality at inconsistent properties of raw material has been very challenging yet an effort to achieve what was targeted was so enjoyable.

one enters in the morning and signs the register, thereafter I receive instructions from the plant metallurgist and I implement them. my co-workers are great people to work with, they are very supportive. the hardest part of the job would be carrying heavy sample buckets. the most enjoyable part of the job is getting dirty, meaning obtaining first hand experience in whatever I'll be doing. the learning part is the most enjoyable part. I learned how to work with different characters at work; how to manage people if need be and how to become successful in a working environment.

A typical day is as follows:

•	Perform rigging where heavy and technical lifting is required. 
•	Execute inspection and maintenance of lifting equipment on a 
        daily, weekly, and monthly basis according to the ISO standard. 
•	Make sure that all lifting machinery and tackle is load tested and 
        certified according to ISO standards. 

Very good company to work for the hardest part is the long hours and little free time including weekends.

Culture is very friendly and helpful only engineer had a challenging personality to deal with but we got the job done. 

Well remunerated.

i personally enjoyed the experience because of just that it was indeed an experience. It was a plant that was commissioned and that means we were bound to find problems around the plant and you always had to be on your feet to anticipate the breakdowns and frequent stoppages. so i enjoyed been constantly on my feet and getting dirty . Although the gap between management and the students for communication purposes for sharing ideas was null. i hope future students don not suffer the same fate.
