Job Summary:
La Vierge Wines, is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Handyman to manage and maintain our beautiful estate in Hermanus. This position requires hands-on management of various maintenance tasks to ensure the estate and facilities are kept in pristine condition. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, be able to work under pressure, and be available for emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide range of handyman tasks including basic plumbing, electrical work, painting, carpentry, and general repairs.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance needs throughout the estate and facilities.
- Manage security and access control.
- Liaise with tenants and promptly attend to any issues that arise.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed and materials used.
- Respond to emergency maintenance needs and support other team members as required.
- Assist with setting up venues as needed and collaborate with contractors on-site for major repairs.
- Take accountability for tools and equipment, ensuring they are well-maintained and stored properly.
- Support and oversee subcontracted services and coordinate with the general manager
- Ensure all safety and emergency procedures are followed and maintained.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years' experience as a handyman, tradesman, caretaker, or building manager.
- Proven experience with a variety of hardware tools and electrical equipment.
- Basic understanding of plumbing and electrical systems.
- Matric or equivalent qualification.
- Competent in using the MS Office Suite.
- Valid Code B (Code EB preferred) driver’s license with a clear driving record.
- Clear criminal record.
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and remain calm in emergencies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
