About Healthy Company
Healthy Company, is a unique employee assistance programme, offered to employers by Discovery Health (Pty) Limited. The programme is available to employees and their dependants to benefit from a dynamic, proactive wellness solution. Employees will have access to a multi-skilled coach to guide them through a fully integrated app or web-based programme for emotional, physical, financial and legal advice.
Key Purpose
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Registered Clinical Psychologist to provide specialised counselling services to C-suite executives. The role involves supporting the mental well-being and resilience of high-level clients to ensure they maintain optimal performance and overall health. The incumbent will manage employee well-being within the Healthy Company operational area, offering counselling, advice, coaching, and referrals to other professionals as needed. They will also handle acute episode management and ongoing support for employees enrolled in the programme.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to the following job functions:
- Consultation and Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights and guidance on mental health issues and their impact on leadership and organisational performance.
- Client Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with employees, understanding and anticipating their needs to enhance satisfaction.
- Counselling and Psychotherapy: Provide individual therapy and counselling to C-suite clients, addressing a range of psychological issues including stress, anxiety, depression, and executive burnout.
- Documentation and Referrals: Maintain detailed and confidential records of all client interactions, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Crisis Management: Engage proactively with high-risk employees to reduce their risk over time. Offer immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
- Performance and Quality: Meet targets for speed, efficiency, and quality, while resolving issues through third-party liaison.
- Training and Mentorship: Facilitate training and provide mentorship to junior coaches, supporting group interventions and workshops.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in clinical psychology and executive coaching.
This role requires a proactive, empathetic professional who can manage complex cases efficiently while ensuring high standards of care.

Knowledge and Skills
- Expertise in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, or other evidence-based approaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to senior executives.
- Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills, with a proven track record in treating complex psychological conditions.
- High level of discretion, confidentiality, and ethical integrity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Education and Experience
The following requirements are essential:
- Education: Master's or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Registration: Must be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in clinical psychology, with at least 3 years focusing on executive or high-level clients.
- Digital: MS Office Suite – with Intermediate Excel abilities
The following requirements will be advantageous:
- 1-2 year’s exposure to Discovery Health clinical environment preferable
- Knowledge about existing employee assistance programme services and/or experience in provision of EAP services
