Junior Sous Chef
Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team at a renowned 5* property located in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and upscale environment, contributing to the creation of exceptional dining experiences for our discerning guests.
Responsibilities:
1. Culinary Excellence:
- Assist in the preparation and execution of high-quality dishes, ensuring they meet the standard of a 5* establishment.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to develop and innovate menu offerings.
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff to maintain consistency and excellence in food preparation.
2. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the culinary team to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Assist in training and developing junior kitchen staff.
3. Menu Development:
- Contribute creative ideas for menu development, taking into consideration seasonal ingredients
and culinary trends.
- Participate in menu tastings and evaluations to refine and enhance offerings.
4. Quality Control:
- Monitor food quality and presentation to uphold the property's standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues.
5. Adherence to Standards:
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations.
6. Ordering and Inventory:
- Assist in managing kitchen inventory and supplies.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef in placing orders and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
7. Customer Experience:
- Work closely with front-of-house staff to address guest preferences and dietary requirements.
- Respond to guest feedback and strive for continuous improvement in guest satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Culinary qualification from a recognized institution.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-end or 5* establishment.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, trends, and ingredients.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
