Vacancy: Artisan Millwright x2

Division: Asset Care - Smelter

Job Grade: C - Lower

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (24 months)

Closing Date: 25 June 2026

Salary: Salary and benefits will be negotiated in line with relevant experience and qualifications.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The incumbent is responsible for repairs and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical installations within the Smelter Business Unit. The incumbent will form an integral part in the execution of day to day electrical and mechanical work.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Execute electrical and mechanical planned maintenance within specified time at a high quality and give feedback to the respective foreman to improve plant availability and reliability.
Promptly attend to any electrical, mechanical and/or related process control system breakdowns and callouts when required.
Ensuring that all unsafe conditions are repaired timeously or to report to prevent any incidents or accidents.
Increase equipment performance and minimize production downtime from unplanned equipment stoppages.
Adhere to and comply with all relevant SHEQ polices, rules and standards.
Participate in Risk Assessments based on external and internal influences.
Maintain a high quality of housekeeping.
Ensure that to adhere to with the company’s code of conduct.
Attend statutory training as may be required.
Assists in cost reduction initiatives by reducing waste and improving efficiencies.
The incumbent will be required to work rotational shifts with other Artisans Millwright to cover the Smelter business unit.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Completed Matric qualification.
N3 or equivalent in Electro-Mechanical is required, preference will be given to candidates with qualifications higher than N3.
Trade Test certificate as a Millwright.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
At least 3 years experience in Medium Voltage switching.
Formal certifications Lifting Machinery Inspection will be advantageous.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP.
Interact effectively through communication at all levels, building relationships, negotiation and gaining commitment.
Results orientated.
Express potential through adaptability, applied learning, initiating action, innovation, impact, and work standards.
Planning and organising skills.
Ability in making decisions.
Ability to identify and proactively address electrical and mechanical faults.

KNOWLEDGE:

Fitting and machinery repair knowledge - Able to understand and apply good techniques to construction.
Working knowledge and able to read and interpret drawings.
Working knowledge and able to identify and proactively address electrical and mechanical faults.
Knowledge and adherence to the permit to work system.
Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
