Our client is looking for an experienced and professional Technical Applications Manager to join their organisation. This role is responsible for providing technical support and solutions to the business and customers. The Technical Applications Manager role assists the sales team to gain new business and strengthen customer relationships. This position reports to the Managing Director.

Primary Purpose: This role is responsible for providing technical support and solutions to the business and customers. The Technical Applications Manager role assists the sales team to gain new business and strengthen customer relationships.
Travel requirements: Travels frequently, sleep out rarely.
Job description / core competencies:
Assist all branches with their technical needs (and able to travel locally on an adhoc basis).
Visit customers with Sales Engineers to gain new business.
Conduct product testing at customers.
Compile test reports on completion of product testing.
Stock control for test stock and test stock written off.
Assist customers with projects which can include fixture design, tooling selection, CNC programming, process design and control, and cost reduction exercises.
Design special purpose tooling for specific customer needs.
Liaise with our international suppliers regarding technical topics and issues.
Provide training to the sales team with reference to new products and technical data.
Ad hoc duties reasonably falling within the employee’s skills, experience and training.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Technical qualification ie. technical matric or minimum N3 mechanical engineering.
ISO CNC programming experience on Fanuc and Siemens control systems.
Basic understanding of macro programming.
Knowledge of ISO standards with regards to tool holders and carbide inserts.
Good working knowledge of cutting tool speeds and feeds for various materials.
Experience in production or jobbing shop environments.
Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.
Experience on CAD/CAM software.
Cutting tool design experience would be an advantage.
Valid code 08 driver’s license.
