Full Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide technical support in the planning, design, analysis, and implementation of civil and structural engineering projects. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of senior engineers and contribute to the delivery of safe, cost-effective, and compliant engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Engineering

· Assist in the design and analysis of civil and structural engineering projects.

· Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

· Support the development of structural models and design documentation.

· Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

Project Support

· Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination activities.

· Participate in project meetings and provide technical input where required.

· Monitor project progress and report on technical issues and risks.

· Support the preparation of tender documentation and technical proposals.

Site Inspections and Quality Assurance

· Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction activities.

· Verify that construction work complies with approved designs and specifications.

· Identify and report construction defects, deviations, and safety concerns.

· Assist in the preparation of site inspection reports and recommendations.

Documentation and Reporting

· Maintain accurate project records and engineering documentation.

· Prepare technical reports, calculations, and progress updates.

· Assist in compiling as-built documentation and project close-out reports.

Compliance and Safety

· Adhere to all company quality management procedures.

· Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, legislation, and regulations.

· Promote health, safety, and environmental best practices on all projects.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications

· Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc Eng) in Civil Engineering.

· Honours degree or postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.

Professional Registration

· Candidate Engineer registration with the relevant professional body is advantageous.

· Working towards professional registration will be an added advantage.

Experience

· 0–3 years of relevant civil and structural engineering experience.

· Internship, vacation work, or graduate programme experience will be advantageous.

Technical Skills

· Knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles and design standards.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Exposure to structural analysis and design software such as Prokon, Tekla, Civil 3D, Revit, or similar software will be advantageous.

· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

· Good written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

· Good planning and organisational skills.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
