About the Opportunity

We’re on the lookout for an Email Marketing Specialist to join our marketing team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing all email customer touchpoints, including email marketing campaigns, transactional emails, and customer service communications. You’ll design, execute, and optimize email strategies to engage and convert our audience, ensuring each email aligns with our brand’s voice and objectives. Reporting to the Marketing & Partnerships Manager, you will analyse performance metrics, manage email lists, and utilize data-driven insights to enhance our email communications and build lasting customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Audience Segmentation & Personalisation: Manage and maintain email lists, segmenting audiences to deliver highly personalized and relevant content tailored to customer preferences, behaviours, and lifecycle stages.
Performance Analysis & Optimisation: Monitor and analyse key email performance metrics (e.g., open rates, click-through rates, conversions, bounce rates) to assess the effectiveness of campaigns. Use data-driven insights to optimize content, frequency, and timing for future emails, maximizing engagement and conversion rates.
Content Creation: Collaborate with the content team to craft compelling and visually engaging email content, including subject lines, copy, and CTAs that resonate with the target audience, while ensuring consistency with broader marketing initiatives.
Testing & Experimentation: Implement A/B testing on subject lines, email layouts, and calls to action to identify what resonates best with recipients and continuously improve the overall performance of the email program.
Compliance & Best Practices: Stay informed of industry standards, data protection regulations (e.g., POPIA), and best practices to ensure that all email communications are compliant and meet the highest quality standards. Regularly update consent management and ensure proper handling of opt-ins and opt-outs.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Work: Work closely with the wider marketing, design, and customer service teams to ensure alignment between email strategies and broader company campaigns, product launches, and seasonal promotions.
Automation & Workflows: Develop and maintain automated email workflows, such as welcome series, enquiry abandonment, and post-purchase follow-ups, to drive engagement and build stronger relationships with customers at various touchpoints.
Database Growth & Management: Proactively identify opportunities to grow and maintain the email database, ensuring that it is healthy, engaged, and clean (removing inactive subscribers, updating preferences, etc.).
Customer Journey Mapping: Understand and map customer journeys to identify the most effective email touchpoints that drive engagement and enhance the overall customer experience.
Email Marketing Strategy Development: Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the email marketing strategy to drive growth, enhance customer retention, and support WOLO Travel’s business goals.

Experience & Qualifications

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in email marketing or a similar role.

· Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

· Experience with email marketing platforms and CRM systems.

· Proficiency in analysing campaign data and performance metrics.

· Strong writing skills and experience in creating engaging email content.
