The Business Architect is responsible for the enterprise-wide process mapping and optimisation across the organisational value chain to improve performance and value creation. This role ensures that DBSA’s operating model, business capabilities, value streams and business processes are clearly defined, digitised, and continuously optimised to support strategic objectives, enhance efficiency, and deliver modern, client-centric services.
Business Process & Capability Modelling
- Develop and maintain DBSA’s business capability maps and end-to-end process models.
- Align business processes with strategic objectives and digital transformation priorities.
- Facilitate workshops with business units and service providers to capture, validate, and refine process models.
- Support the achievement of the digitalisation strategy and digital transformation initiatives across the organisation, and align the business architecture function.
- Maintain a central repository of business architecture artefacts.
Capability & Process Optimisation
- Develop and maintain the enterprise value streams, business capability model and architecture repository.
- Identify capability gaps and recommend solutions to enhance organisational effectiveness.
- Drive standardisation and optimisation of business processes and systems.
- Lead end-to-end business process mapping, modelling, and standardisation.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce duplication, and enhance performance.
- Establish process frameworks, methodologies, and continuous improvement practices.
Measurement & Performance Management
- Define KPIs and metrics to measure process efficiency, effectiveness, and maturity.
- Establish frameworks for ongoing monitoring and reporting of business process performance.
- Provide insights to executives on capability gaps, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Benchmark DBSA’s business processes against industry best practices.
Digitalisation & Automation
- Identify opportunities to digitise and automate business processes for efficiency and scalability.
- Partner with IT and transformation teams to design digital workflows and solutions.
- Integrate business processes with ERP, CRM, procurement, treasury systems and others.
- Promote adoption of digital tools and analytics to support decision-making.
Continuous Improvement & Optimisation
- Lead initiatives to re-engineer and optimise business processes.
- Drive adoption of Lean, Six Sigma, and Agile practices for process improvement.
- Define processes that are resilient, scalable, and adaptable to future needs.
- Support benefits realisation by linking process improvements to measurable outcomes.
Governance & Compliance
- Verify that business processes comply with regulatory requirements, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to embed controls into business processes.
- Maintain documentation and audit trails for process changes and improvements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Capability Development
- Build strong relationships with executives, business units, and technology partners.
- Communicate business architecture strategies and decisions in clear, business-oriented language.
- Mentor and coach teams to build business architecture capability within DBSA.
- Facilitate training and knowledge transfer on process modelling and optimisation.
People Management

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as TOGAF Business Architecture, Lean Six Sigma, BPMN, BABOK or Agile/Scrum are highly desirable.
Minimum Experience
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in business architecture, process modelling, or business process management. This experience must include a minimum of 3 years of supervisory/leading a team experience.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing business capability maps and process frameworks.
- Experience in digitising and automating business processes using ERP, CRM, procurement, and treasury systems.
- Strong background in performance measurement, KPIs, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence executives, boards, and cross-functional teams.
Desirable Requirements
- Exposure to financial services, development finance, or public sector environments.
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA, Master’s in Business Architecture, Digital Transformation, or Process Engineering).
