Reporting Line: Technical Manager
Purpose of the position:
A Food Technology professional with a proven track record in the food industry focusing ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of products within a high risk/chilled product category. Dairy, cheese, deli meats chilled or frozen products would be advantageous. You will be involved in creating and maintaining product specifications, ensuring regulatory compliance, and manage customer product development projects from generation to concept. Ensure the support of QMS and site auditing to ensure conformance to customer and company food safety and quality codes of practice. Compliance with and the monitoring of internal and legal requirements and guidelines for hygiene and environmental protection. Support and participation in customer presentations and internal product presentations, Collaborate and communicate between internal matrix departments, laboratories, customers and external regulatory bodies such as DAFF, DOH, NRCS.
Key Functions of the role:
Developing and maintaining product specifications:
- This involves creating detailed documents that outline the technical requirements for a product, including materials, dimensions, performance, and safety standards.
Ensuring regulatory compliance:
- They ensure that products meet all relevant legal and safety standards, conducting risk assessments and product safety reviews.
Overseeing new product development:
- They may be involved in initial concept development, testing, and trials of new products.
Working with various stakeholders:
- They collaborate with designers, manufacturers, and other departments to ensure that products meet the required specifications.
Maintaining documentation:
- They are responsible for keeping all relevant documentation up-to-date and readily available.
Personal Profile: Knowledge
5-8 yrs experience in Product development, Legislation, New product development, Sustainability, Manufacturing and the ability to display competence in the following skills:
Technical expertise:
- A strong understanding of product specifications, materials, and manufacturing processes is essential.
Regulatory knowledge:
- Aware of relevant laws, regulations, and standards for their specific product category.
Analytical skills:
- The ability to analyze data, identify potential problems, and develop solutions.
Communication skills:
- Strong communication and collaboration skills are needed to work effectively with diverse teams and customers across multiple disciplines and functions.
Project management skills:
- The ability to successfully lead, manage and deliver projects related to new product development or process improvements.
