Position Overview

At ExactoCraft, high-volume production requires continuous, vigilant oversight to ensure every part off the line meets our technical standards. We are seeking a reliable, sharp-eyed Quality Inspector to join our 24-hour manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, floor-level role entirely dedicated to conducting physical inspections, measuring parts, and verifying production quality in real-time.

Because our facility operates around the clock, this position is shift-based (including night and weekend rotations). For the right candidate, this is not just a job, but a career entry point. We are actively looking for an individual who excels at the core inspection work and demonstrates the leadership and technical potential to eventually be promoted into a Quality Process Controller role as our factory scales.

Key Responsibilities

1. Line Inspections & Product Validation (Core Focus)

Document Comprehension: Read and interpret part-specific Quality Description Sheets (QDS) and In-process Inspection Records (IPIR) at the start of every shift to fully comprehend the quality expectations and customer requirements.
Hourly Sample Validation: Conduct hourly or relevant sample validation of manufacturing processes in progress using appropriate visual and manual methods (measuring dimensions, testing functionality, and comparing to specifications).
Approve / Reject Authority: Approve or reject in-process manufactured products in strict accordance with the latest hardcopy revision of the process documents and approved master samples.
Production Start-Up Checks: Execute validation checks at the start of a shift, following a breakdown, after a power failure, or during a new product start-up to minimize high in-process rejects.

2. Measurements, Equipment Care & Data Logging

Equipment Care & Monitoring: Monitor the daily use of measuring equipment to ensure it remains clean, safe, and well-maintained, reporting any anomalies for appropriate disposition.
Accurate Metrics Logging: Maintain neat, accurate, and complete hardcopy or digital records of testing information and key metrics, such as the total number of defective products identified per day.
Reporting: Compile inspection data and regularly submit quality reports to the department manager.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Schooling: Matric / Grade 12 (NQF 4) with good basic mathematical literacy for interpreting measurements.
Beneficial Education: Any tertiary or technical qualification that supports quality and process control in a plastic manufacturing environment will be a distinct advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a quality inspector or a relevant role in a similar fast-paced manufacturing environment (plastics or high-volume packaging preferred).
Shift Readiness: Willing to work occasional night or weekend shifts when needed for production schedules or audits, in a plant that operates around the clock.

Key Skills & Attributes

Sharp Eye for Detail: Exceptional visual accuracy and a results-driven approach to catching minor surface defects, flashes, short shots, or dimensional variations on fast-moving production lines.
Technical Aptitude: Proven familiarity with quality testing machines, precision hand-held measuring tools(specifically vernier callipers), and basic testing methodologies.
Reliability & Trust: A highly responsible, punctual, and trustworthy character. Absolute reliability to show up on time for shift handovers is non-negotiable.
Computer Literacy: Basic computer literacy and skills for data entry and tracking metrics.
