Position: CNC Milling Setter

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have practical experience setting up CNC milling machines and a willingness to learn and grow within a precision engineering environment. They should have a good understanding of machining processes, be able to read engineering drawings, and take pride in producing quality work.
Position Summary
My client is seeking a motivated CNC Milling Setter to join their manufacturing team to produce precision-machined components for the antenna, aerospace and general engineering industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up CNC milling machines, preparing tooling, assisting with first-off inspections, and supporting production to ensure quality components are manufactured efficiently and to specification.
Minimum Requirements
- 3 to 5 years' experience working with CNC milling machines.
- Experience setting up or assisting with the setup of 3-axis CNC milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Basic understanding of machining tolerances and quality standards.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as verniers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Knowledge of Fanuc, Mitsubishi, or similar CNC control systems will be advantageous.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and resolve machining problems.
- Reliable transport.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Experience machining aluminium, stainless steel and engineering foams and plastics.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC milling machines for production.
- Install tooling, fixtures, and workpieces.
- Load and verify CNC programs.
- Conduct trial runs and assist with first-off inspections.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Measure machined components using precision measuring equipment.
- Make basic tool offset and machine setting adjustments.
- Report and assist in resolving machining and tooling issues.
- Ensure components meet required quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Work closely with programmers, operators, quality inspectors, and supervisors.
- Assist with reducing setup times and improving production efficiency.
Advantageous Experience

Experience in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam or Fusion 360.
- Understand ISO 9001 quality requirements
- Basic understanding of speeds and feeds, and tool wear.
