Full Job Description

I am seeking a professional, warm, and personable Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients. The receptionist will play a key role in creating a welcoming, calm, and supportive environment for patients while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

The successful candidate will work closely with me and will be responsible for managing administrative and patient-facing aspects of the practice. This includes greeting patients on arrival, assisting them before and after consultations, answering telephone calls, responding to patient enquiries via email, and coordinating appointments and scheduling.

Key responsibilities will include:

Managing the appointment diary and patient bookings.
Liaising with medical aid schemes and handling related administrative processes.
Preparing and sending invoices and other relevant documentation to patients and medical aids.
Assisting with general practice administration, including sending prescriptions, reports, referral letters, and investigation results as directed.
Managing incoming correspondence and ensuring timely follow-up of tasks.
Assisting with practice systems and software (full training will be provided).

Given the nature of a psychiatric practice, the ideal candidate should demonstrate empathy, emotional maturity, discretion, and professionalism. They should be comfortable interacting with individuals who may be experiencing emotional distress and be able to remain calm, compassionate, and solution-focused in challenging situations.

Pay: R17 000,00 - R20 000,00 per month
