Stores Controller

About the Role
A leading transport and logistics company is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Stores Controller to oversee the efficient management of inventory, spare parts, and workshop consumables. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring stock accuracy, maintaining inventory levels, and supporting workshop and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control the receipt, storage, and issuing of stock and spare parts.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock levels are monitored at all times.
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Process goods received notes (GRNs), purchase orders, and stock transfers.
- Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels and coordinate replenishment requirements.
- Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded on the inventory management system.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding deliveries, shortages, and product quality issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure stores environment.
- Support workshop and maintenance teams by ensuring the availability of required parts and consumables.
- Prepare inventory and stock management reports for management review.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures relating to inventory control.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Relevant qualification in Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field will be advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Stores Controller, Storeman, Inventory Controller, or similar role.
- Experience within the transport, logistics, fleet, automotive, or engineering industry will be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control processes and stock management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong numerical and administrative skills.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
