Full Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform phlebotomy duties with accuracy and professionalism.
Assist doctors with clinical procedures, ensuring efficiency and patient comfort.
Conduct diagnostic assessments including ECG, LBC's, running drip lines, stress tests, and lung function evaluations.
Provide holistic patient management, delivering compassionate and comprehensive care.
Maintain and calibrate equipment used for phlebotomy, ensuring compliance and readiness.
Monitor and manage stock levels for phlebotomy supplies to support uninterrupted service delivery.
Safeguard patient and client confidentiality at all times.
Complete and maintain temperature logs, decontamination logs, and ensure proper disposal of medical waste (needles, swabs, etc.) in line with protocols.
Accurately complete all relevant documentation.
Handle cash transactions and billing reconciliations with accountability and precision.
Actively follow up and chase laboratory results to ensure timely reporting to patients and doctors.

Qualifications

Registered with SANC/HPCSA (valid for 2026).
Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent recognized qualification.
Exceptional phlebotomy skills and demonstrated knowledge of intravenous therapy.
Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.

Experience

1–10 years of nursing experience in primary healthcare and phlebotomy.
Experience in laboratory or healthcare environments advantageous.

Relevant Job Knowledge

Phlebotomy procedures and intravenous therapy.
Primary healthcare practices and patient management.
Laboratory documentation and billing processes.
Medical equipment maintenance and stock control.
Confidentiality protocols and patient rights.

Work Location

Permanent position based in Shelly Beach, Kwazulu Natal.
