Full Job Description

The purpose of this job is to ensure the smooth running of the Maintenance department, servicing all Group retail hardware stores and the DC from a central maintenance base. This includes managing job cards received from branches, supervising a team of Maintenance staff, and ensuring that all maintenance requests are completed timeously, safely and to a high standard. The role holder is responsible for liaising with branch senior management to confirm work has been satisfactory completed, maintaining excellent housekeeping and safekeeping of tools and equipment, and always ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receive, log and prioritize job cards submitted by the branches.
Plan and prepare daily and weekly work schedules for the maintenance team, including time and attendance, leave queries and management of overtime.
Assign & supervise the work of Maintenance team, ensuring tasks are allocated fairly and completed within agreed timeframes.
Gather and prepare the correct tools, materials and equipment required for each job prior to departure from the central base.
Travel to branches using the company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with all road safety requirements.
Liaise with branch management throughout the job to manage expectations and ensure customer satisfaction.
Diagnose faults and carry out or oversee repairs and installations across all disciplines.
Ensure all work is carried out in full compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including safe use of tools, ladders, power equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)
Maintain proper housekeeping standards in the central workshop as well as in all work areas at branches, leaving each site tidy on completion.
Ensure the safekeeping, proper care and routine maintenance of all hand tools, power tools and equipment, including reporting and escalating any tools requiring repair or replacement.
Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and consumable stock held at the central base.
Keep accurate records of completed job cards, materials used and time spent per job and submit regular reports to the Department Manager.
Train, guide and monitor Maintenance Assistants to ensure correct work standards, procedures and safe working practices are followed.
Conduct performance evaluations of the Maintenance Assistants and report on team productivity the Department Manager.
Escalate any recurring maintenance issues, budget concerns or resources constraints to the Department Manager.
Perform any work-related task as delegated by senior management.
Attend to any other job cards that might arise from customers experiencing damages due to company related activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

Matric or equivalent
Trade-related qualification or relevant artisan experience will be advantageous
Brights Induction (service excellence)
3 years minimum experience in a similar role or artisan supervisory role
Health & Safety training
Customer service training
Valid driver's license
Ability to supervise, train and motivate a small team
Sound knowledge of Health & Safety requirements relevant to maintenance work
Ability to act professionally and maintain confidentiality
Ability to give excellent customer service and handle pressure
Microsoft Office
Internal procedural knowledge
