As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced, commercially astute and strategic Head of Procurement to join our Executive Leadership Team. This executive leadership role will be responsible for developing and executing the Company's procurement and sourcing strategy, ensuring value creation through strategic supplier partnerships, cost optimisation, supply chain resilience, governance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
The Head of Procurement will provide strategic leadership across the entire procurement and sourcing function, including:
- Develop, implement and continuously monitor the Company's Procurement Strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy and commercial objectives.
- Lead the procurement function to deliver best value, sustainable cost optimisation and uninterrupted supply across all operating sites.
- Develop strategic sourcing strategies that improve competitiveness while maintaining quality, food safety, service excellence and operational continuity.
- Lead supplier sourcing, evaluation, contract negotiations and supplier relationship management to establish long-term strategic partnerships.
- Develop supplier performance management frameworks, including service level agreements, key performance indicators and regular supplier performance reviews.
- Identify and implement procurement initiatives that drive cost savings, improve efficiencies and enhance profitability without compromising quality or service delivery.
- Provide strategic leadership in contract management, ensuring commercial value, legal compliance and effective contract governance.
- Develop and implement category management strategies across food, facilities management, cleaning, technical services, consumables, capital expenditure and indirect spend.
- Ensure procurement governance through compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, delegated authorities and regulatory requirements.
- Drive supply chain risk management by identifying vulnerabilities and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.
- Develop procurement planning, forecasting and demand management processes in collaboration with operational and finance teams.
- Lead inventory optimisation initiatives that balance stock availability, working capital management and operational efficiency.
- Promote responsible, ethical and sustainable procurement practices, including environmental sustainability and supplier diversity initiatives.
- Develop and implement BBBEE supplier development and preferential procurement initiatives that support the Company's transformation objectives.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Finance, Culinary, Commercial, HR and Executive Leadership to ensure procurement strategies support business growth and client service delivery.
- Drive procurement digitalisation and continuous improvement through systems optimisation, data analytics, automation and reporting.
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing procurement team focused on operational excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Business Management or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related discipline will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 8 years' progressive procurement and supply chain experience, including at least 5 years in a senior procurement leadership role.
- Proven experience developing and implementing procurement strategies within a multi-site operational environment.
- Extensive experience in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management and contract negotiations.
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in delivering sustainable cost optimisation initiatives.
- Sound knowledge of procurement governance, risk management and supply chain best practices.
- Experience in procurement within the catering, hospitality, facilities management, healthcare, manufacturing or related industries will be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of BBBEE preferential procurement, supplier development and transformation requirements.
- Experience implementing procurement technologies, reporting systems and performance dashboards.
- Excellent analytical, financial modelling and reporting capabilities.
- Outstanding leadership, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organisational change and deliver measurable business results.
