MAIN PURPOSE
The Projects & In-House Manager represents ALPLA on plant level. With entrepreneurial actions the job holder secures the future of the respective ALPLA plant with optimization and continuous improvement. The Projects & In-House Manager is responsible for all topics concerning the plant’s operations including planning, production, quality, maintenance and warehouse.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage of the overall operational performance of the production plant in Dundee and Douglasdale. The job holder is responsible for the following departments:
- Production
- QA/QC
- Maintenance
- Ensures optimization and continuous improvement of all operational processes according to the global ALPLA standard. "Operational excellence" is the ultimate goal.
- Analyzes on a regular basis data’s relating to operational KPI and make sure that defined actions will reach the targets. Mandatory to follow preventive maintenance activities.
- Responsible for budgeting, KPI planning, capacity, resource planning and investment planning in cooperation with the Operations Manager SSA and the Head of Operations for SOAF.
- Budgets total costs and plan key figures, especially in terms of capacity and investments
- Conducts reporting: target vs. actual comparison
- Prepares investment decisions for local and regional management team
- Ensures optimum customer support and optimization of the whole supply chain
- Customer service, periodical meetings
- Optimization of logistic chain
- Professional complaint management
- Performs in compliance with quality, health & safety and environmental standards
- Responsible for team development
- Personnel support (recruiting, appraisal interview, career planning, work environment etc.) and Personnel development (training need assessment, education, succession planning etc.)
- Creates a transparent operational organization in cooperation with his superior and the responsible HR counterpart:
- Prepares a clear organizational chart and provide valid job descriptions
- Decides on management structure and implement the principal " leading by targets “
- Secures continuous and on schedule development of the organization
- Ensures that correct policies and procedures are in place in order to allow staff to perform
- Communication:
- The Operation Manager represents the company towards the public authorities and is responsible for the compliance with the regulatory framework
- Uses discretion when dealing with impact of problems on the capacity of plant to meet production schedule
- Communicates impact of problems to clients as soon as possible and what corrective measures have been taken
- Coordinates the investigation of complaints and ensure that feedback is given to clients
Based on the Business Process Management (BPM) processes the job holder is responsible for:
S6 (Assure product conformity)
- S6.3 Responsible to comply with all Hygiene requirements in the plant.
- S6.2 Support complaint handling by reporting all identified non-conformities and support in the implementation of effective corrective actions determined by the process owner, when needed.
S10 (Ensure occupational health, safety and environment)
- Ensure that HSE compliance in own area of responsibility.
- Report any incident or unsafe conditions seen in the plant/ work area.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor/Master or Diploma degree with clear affinity to operations
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an international manufacturing company, preferably in plastic packaging
- Deep understanding of cost calculation and performance metrics
- Professionalism and dedication to excellence in customer care
- Proven track of leadership experience and ability to train and develop the operations team
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Ability to work independently to tight deadlines and proactive in solving problems
- Proficiency in English and other language skills are of advantage
