Full Job Description

This role requires strong technical underwriting expertise, the ability to analyse complex risks, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to brokers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Assess, analyse, and underwrite commercial insurance risks in accordance with company underwriting guidelines
Evaluate new business, renewals, and policy amendments
Determine appropriate premiums, terms, and conditions based on risk exposure
Ensure compliance with internal underwriting standards and regulatory requirements
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and policy records
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders
Provide technical underwriting guidance and support to relevant teams
Monitor portfolio performance and recommend corrective actions where necessary
Assist in claims-related queries and provide underwriting input when required
Contribute to retention strategies and support business development initiatives

Key Requirements

Minimum 4–6 years’ experience in Commercial Underwriting
Relevant insurance qualification (FAIS compliant; RE5 preferred)
Strong knowledge of commercial lines products and underwriting principles
Proven ability to assess and manage complex risks
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and relationship management abilities
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Proficient in Microsoft Office and underwriting systems
