Senior Architectural Technologist / Senior ArchitectPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Architectural Technologist / Senior Architect to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading architectural projects, managing design and technical documentation processes, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects from inception through to completion.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects within the commercial, industrial, and oil and gas sectors, while contributing to the continued growth and development of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage architectural projects through all project stages (Stages 1–6), from concept design to project close-out.
- Prepare, review, and oversee the production of architectural drawings, technical documentation, and construction details.
- Direct and contribute to design development, ensuring innovative, practical, and compliant design solutions.
- Coordinate project information and liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Manage and mentor junior architectural staff and provide technical guidance to project teams.
- Produce and review BIM models and project documentation using Revit.
- Conduct site inspections, site measurements, and progress assessments throughout project implementation.
- Prepare and manage municipal and statutory approval submissions, including council submission documentation.
- Facilitate and monitor submission, approval, and retrieval processes with local authorities and other regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building regulations, municipal requirements, SANS standards, and industry best practices.
- Participate in project planning, resource allocation, and programme management.
- Prepare reports, specifications, schedules, and other project-related documentation.
- Maintain quality assurance standards across all project deliverables.
- Support business development initiatives and contribute to client relationship management where required.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology.
- Professional registration with SACAP as a Professional Architect, Professional Senior Architectural Technologist, or eligibility for registration.
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in architectural design and project delivery.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit (mandatory).
- Strong working knowledge of BIM workflows and coordination processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Lumion, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, and other architectural visualization software will be advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of the National Building Regulations, SANS standards, municipal approval processes, and construction methodologies.
- Proven experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
- Excellent technical detailing, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
