- Inspect rotating equipment, conveyors and drive systems for signs of wear, vibration, abnormal noise and leaks.
- Perform lubrication routines, alignment checks and vibration analysis as required.
- Identify potential equipment failures before they result in unplanned production downtime.
- Document findings, measurements and corrective actions accurately in the CMMS.
- Breakdown Response & Downtime Minimisation
- Respond promptly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns and production stoppages to restore operations.
- Diagnose the root causes of equipment failures using diagnostic tools, visual inspection and technical knowledge.
- Implement appropriate temporary solutions to minimise downtime while permanent repairs are planned.
- Communicate breakdown status and estimated repair times to the Engineering and Maintenance Team Leader and Manufacturing Operations.
- Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend appropriate corrective and reliability improvements.
Installation & Commissioning:
- Install new electrical and mechanical equipment, conveyors, pumps, electric motors and drive systems as part of capital projects and plant upgrades.
- Assist with the commissioning and testing of new production lines and equipment installations.
- Ensure electrical and mechanical installations comply with engineering specifications, safety standards and GMP requirements.
- Ensure legends within electrical panels are maintained and kept up to date.
Safety & Compliance:
- Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before commencing electrical or mechanical work to ensure a zero-energy state.
- Conduct electrical and mechanical safety checks and risk assessments before starting maintenance activities.
- Comply with applicable electrical and mechanical safety regulations, permit-to-work requirements, GMP standards and company safety policies.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections and incident investigations relating to electrical and mechanical systems.
- Maintain a strong safety-conscious and zero-harm approach to all maintenance activities.
Spare Parts & Tools Management:

- Maintain an organised inventory of commonly used mechanical parts and tools.
- Ensure mechanical components are correctly stored and handled to prevent damage and contamination.
- Report stock shortages and recommend critical spares to the Engineering and Maintenance Team Leader.
- Use spare parts and consumables responsibly to minimise unnecessary wastage and maintenance costs.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Complete CMMS work orders with accurate descriptions of work performed, parts used and time spent.
- Ensure work orders and relevant maintenance dashboards are updated and closed before the end of the shift.
- Maintain logbooks and records of electrical and mechanical maintenance activities, tests and inspections.
- Report recurring electrical and mechanical issues and recommend improvements to maintenance plans.
- Contribute to shift handover reports and daily maintenance briefings.
Continuous Improvement & Capability:
- Apply a lean maintenance approach when carrying out maintenance activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, maintainability and manufacturing performance.
- Contribute practical improvement ideas relating to electro-mechanical systems.
- Participate in required SOP, equipment and technical training.
- Continuously develop multi-skilling capability across electrical, mechanical and instrumentation systems.
