The Librarian is responsible for managing and maintaining the institution’s library services and resources to support teaching, learning, and research activities. This role ensures access to relevant academic materials, promotes information literacy, and provides guidance to students and staff in the effective use of library resources. The Librarian plays a key role in creating a conducive learning environment and enhancing the overall academic experience.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring efficient service delivery.
Catalogue, classify, and maintain library resources, including books, journals, and digital materials.
Assist students and staff in locating and using library resources effectively.
Promote information literacy by providing training and support on research tools and databases.
Maintain and update the library management system and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Monitor and manage borrowing, returns, and overdue materials.
Develop and maintain the library collection in line with academic programme requirements.
Ensure a quiet, safe, and conducive study environment within the library.
Collaborate with academic staff to support curriculum needs and resource planning.
Prepare reports on library usage, resources, and activities.

Minimum Requirements

Degree in Library and Information Science or a related field.
Previous experience in a library or academic environment is advantageous.
Knowledge of library systems and cataloguing standards.
Computer literacy and familiarity with digital research tools and databases.
