Overview

Gravity Accounting Solutions is a growing accounting firm looking for a competent, experienced, and motivated bookkeeper to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial records, delivering exceptional client service, and maintaining efficient day-to-day financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

⁠Full bookkeeping function up to Trial Balance
⁠Preparation and processing of monthly accounting records
⁠ Bank, creditor, debtor, and general ledger reconciliations
⁠ VAT calculations, submissions, and reconciliations
⁠ ⁠Assisting with the preparation of financial statements
⁠ Payroll processing (advantageous)
⁠Processing journals and month-end procedures
⁠ SARS compliance and tax-related administration
⁠ ⁠Accurate data capturing and record keeping
⁠ General administrative and ad-hoc accounting projects

Requirements

⁠ Fluent in both English and Afrikaans
⁠ ⁠Strong communication and interpersonal skills
⁠ Excellent time management and organisational skills
⁠ ⁠Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work under pressure
⁠ ⁠Able to work independently with minimal supervision
⁠Self-motivated, disciplined, and reliable
⁠ Punctual, professional, and presentable
⁠ ⁠Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
⁠ ⁠Ability to consistently meet deadlines
⁠ Solid understanding of accounting principles
⁠ ⁠Strong bookkeeping knowledge and practical experience
⁠ ⁠Good understanding of South African tax legislation, including VAT, Income Tax, PAYE, UIF, SDL, and SARS processes
⁠ ⁠Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns
⁠ ⁠Experience with accounting software such as Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks, or equivalent (essential)
⁠ ⁠Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

Other Requirements

⁠ ⁠Own reliable transport
⁠ Must reside in Port Elizabeth
Ability to work from the office (in-person position)
1–2 years' experience in a similar position.
