Introduction
The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing onsite technical support across a suite of technology products, outsourced services, and customer-specific solutions.
This role ensures the proper installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of deployed systems while maintaining a high standard of customer service. The technician will also be responsible for identifying and resolving hardware issues, maintaining accurate documentation, and reporting key findings to support ongoing service improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Onsite Technical Support
- Conduct site inspections and prepare installation designs based on requirements.
- Install and configure technical solutions, ensuring functionality and customer satisfaction.
- Provide post-installation training and onsite support for issue resolution.
- SLA Management
- Ensure service delivery meets or exceeds defined SLA targets.
- Resolve technical faults within agreed timeframes or escalate when necessary.
- Support proactive issue identification to minimize repeat service calls.
- Administration & Reporting
- Accurately document site activities, fault resolutions, and service outcomes.
- Participate in relevant meetings and maintain awareness of process updates.
- Use mobile tools and systems to manage job cards and report case statuses.
- Stock & Inventory Management
- Maintain and manage boot stock in alignment with operational needs.
- Conduct regular stock checks and submit reports as scheduled.
- Return faulty stock and ensure all inventory activity follows internal processes.
- Health & Safety Compliance
- Follow all health and safety standards, including PPE usage.
- Complete required safety audits and maintain emergency equipment.
- Promote a safe working environment through compliance with all regulations.
- Vehicle Management
- Operate company vehicle in line with fleet policies and legal requirements.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any issues promptly.
- Plan travel routes efficiently to support timely service delivery.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- IT-related Degree/Diploma (Preferred)
- A+ and N+ Certification or other relevant technical qualifications (Advantageous)
- Own reliable vehicle
- 1-3 years IT Field experience
