ROLE PURPOSE
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for coordinating the organization's HR compliance, employee relations, employment equity, skills development, and HR governance functions.
This role serves as the organization's primary custodian of labor law compliance, employee relations processes, and HR policy frameworks, ensuring that people practices remain legally compliant, operationally effective, and aligned with business requirements.
The HR manager provides practical HR guidance and support to management while mitigating employee-related risk through proactive compliance management, effective employee relations practices, and the consistent application of HR policies and procedures.
In short: This role is the organization's HR compliance, governance, and employee relations specialist, ensuring sound people practices while supporting management in achieving business objectives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):
· Supporting the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
· Work closely with various departments, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures
· Develop and implement, and maintain existing policies on issues like working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management
· Recruit staff, which involves developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and assist in selecting candidates
· Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues and representation of the company at Conciliation (DRC).
· Assist in performance management and employee evaluation
· Maintain employee records (leave, attendance) according to policy and legal requirements
· Identify KPIs for departments
· Collect and analysing employee data via internal surveys to measure employer satisfaction and develop talent retention strategies.
· Improve and maintain onboarding processes
· Prepare, and maintain staff handbooks
· Looking after the health, safety compliance and welfare of all employees
· Develop and Analyse training needs in conjunction with departmental managers and develop training and team building programs
· Providing counselling / training on policies and procedures
· Advise on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits
· Undertake regular salary reviews
· Manage redundancy programmes
· Negotiate with staff and their representatives (for example, trade union officials) on issues relating to pay and conditions, contracts and redundancy packages
· Interpret and advise on employment law
· Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance
· Promote equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation
· Submission WSP/ATR and EE plans
· To be able to submit WSP (workplace skill plan)/ART (annual training report) on a yearly basis
· Work with Management to coordinate Events and weekly/monthly staff meetings
· Update company Organizational Chart
· Assist with coordinating all workplace activities, such as team buildings, year end function and other work-related outings.
Qualifications & Skills:
REQUIRED:
· Proven experience as HR Manager or office or other HR position
· Degree in human resources, or equivalent.
· Postgraduate degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
· Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development, etc.)
· Understanding of labour laws and disciplinary procedures
· Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of VIP and Uniclox is a plus
· Knowledge and experience with WSP/ATR submissions
· Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
· Strong ethics and reliability
· Professional body accreditation is advantageous.
