The role of the Mechanical Design Draughtsperson at Dormas is to produce 3D models of equipment outline drawings, produce full equipment detailed drawings, layouts and procedures to enable manufacturing and interpreting customer requirements and technical specifications.
Job Objective:
- Create drawings and models of packhouse equipment in 3D Autodesk Inventor across the company range of products.
- Produce mechanical drawings in accordance with accepted Engineering practice and company draughting procedures.
- Work to set schedules for completion of models and drawings.
- Complete final design of equipment & issue to workshop, along with component / assembly / manufacturing drawings.
- Produce Manufacturing Instructions (MI’s) & all drawings for procurement of materials for Contract Specific equipment.
- Read and comprehend customer specifications for contract specific orders and apply to the product.
- Keep contract / job files up to date with any drawing changes & issue these to manufacturing / customer
- Liaise with other company internal departments - sales, engineering, purchasing, production, and quality to ensure accuracy and delivery of projects to specification.
- Assist sales in technical questions / request for drawings and mechanical detail.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Primarily, undertake 3D CAD design modelling and 2D drafting annotations.
- Modelling of 2D layout drawings into 3D Models
- Detailed design and production of mechanical models and drawings
- Timely completion of mechanical deliverables to schedules
- Adherence to project man-hour budgets
- Adherence to company standards and procedures
- Miscellaneous tasks such as supplier material inspections, standard drawings and detail drawings
- Production of drawings in accordance with established procedures, i.e., internal review, checking, etc.
- Clarity and accuracy of drawings
- Work closely with consultants, managers to ensure that client’s objectives are met in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance and take initiative.

Pay: R240 000,00 - R420 000,00 per year
