Role Purpose
Responsible for managing the overall performance of the Northern Cape Business Unit including, revenue, profitability, performance, expenditures and staffing through delegation of tasks and duties. Lead, direct, manage and oversee each department ensuring efficiency, financial stability, and compliance of all legislation.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5-10 years General Management experience in industry with in-depth experience in all job-related requirements. Project management experience.
- Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain /Logistics Management, or relevant qualification

Duties
· Execute the implementation of people & culture strategies and initiatives that align with BlackMagic business strategy.
· Assist with the development and implementation of a strong leadership culture throughout all levels of Business Unit.
· Act as a change champion to develop a positive culture and effective implementation of initiatives.
· Act as an ambassador for and driving the full implementation of the Group values by all employees.
· Foster a desire to learn, promote accountability and a culture of recognition, and encourage a shared vision among all employees.
· Drive for short-term and long-term planning, drive initiatives throughout the management team and in the organisation that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
· Ensure plans submitted to EXCO quarterly for review and sign off include:
o BU Goals
o Production related targets
o Commercial related (projections, etc.)
o Budgeting
o Special projects
o Internal and External audits
· Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the supporting departments (Human Resources, Finance, SHEQ, and Admin), through the coordination and communication between the business functions.
· Drive and promote the participation and understanding of safety principles and practices to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment.
· Review quotations and provide support in tender applications and processes.
· Continuously identify areas within the Business Unit in which the business can improve and implementing such improvement, driving business unit profitability and growth.
· Submit monthly and quarterly reports to EXCO indicating achievements vs. the plan
- Review financial statements, activity reports, or other performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement or to identify areas needing cost reduction or program improvement.
- Ensure progress against budget is monitored, trends and variances are identified, and action plans created and executed to address budget variances and realign with budget.
- Ensure the prudent management and utilisation of all operational resources, people, capital, and expenditure by monitoring effectiveness and achieving agreed goals.

- · Identify and analyse various risks and viability of the business unit (e.g., business, financial, compliance).
- Align with the business to implement events to trigger risk evaluations with critical business processes (i.e., application changes, process adjustments, new projects objectives, etc.)
- Ensure and maintain a detailed risk management plan in collaboration with the Exec and management team.
- Develop risk management controls and contingency plans relating to the BU.
- Oversee that all risks are tracked, reported, and mitigated in all functions of the business units.
- Develop metrics to show progress (or deterioration) in the organisational’ s risk management program and to help facilitate a conversation among stakeholders.
- Provide quality input into any operational improvement initiatives including but not limited to workflow, processes, and equipment.
- Establish or implement policies, goals, objectives, or procedures in conjunction with Exco and employees.
- Ensure production targets are met, as per the agreed BU requirements.
- Oversee cargo securitization of all clients (zero product losses or contamination), maximum handling loss for bulk ore is 1% for full value chain.
- Manage the movement of goods into and out of facilities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, or sustainability of operations
- Implement systems for the regular tracking and reporting of throughput KPIs for the workshop, dispatch, and warehouse, where applicable
- Compile monthly KPI dashboard consolidation and reporting, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation and tracking
- Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.

- Oversee the full asset utilization of assigned assets to Business Unit (productivity & profitability)

- Ensure relationships with clients are managed effectively, with communication and negotiation carried out consistently and professionally.
- Weekly (or as required) client meetings and reports to be prepared and presented.
- Develop and implement a supplier/client communications program covering meetings and reporting, with others involved in communications as appropriate.
- Collaborate to negotiate and manage Service Level Agreement terms with clients.
- Manage relationships with custom agents and sea/air freight providers.
- Provide excellent advice and reports to Exco to ensure effective decision making.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders to promote an understanding of the objectives of BlackMagic and facilitate the accomplishment of mutual goals.
- Represent BlackMagic in all public relations related activities where required.
- Drive business development activities required on an ad hoc basis.
- Support on-going HR initiatives and ensure proper communication to all staff throughout the Business Unit.
- Recruit, train, develop, increase/maintain high morale, and discipline employees to ensure adequate staffing and high performing team.
- Oversee and participate in Performance Management, ensuring proper accountability and documentation.
- Facilitate the creation of accountable, full-service teams who understand and strive to meet the needs of all stakeholders through effective inspirational leadership.

- Take full responsibility for performance of all direct reports, motivating and managing them in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives, focusing on all aspects of sound people management.
