The Regional Marketing Manager - Southern Africa leads marketing and brand building for Brown-Forman across all markets in Southern Africa. As head of marketing for the area, this person must be a dynamic, creative, collaborative &, inclusive leader who is excited by the opportunity to step change Brown-Forman brand growth. A courageous brand builder who thinks strategically while simultaneously managing flawless execution, fosters capability growth across the team and in partners, and translates insights into action will be successful and fulfilled by this role.
The working style for this role is 4 days a week from the office with Fridays working from home.
What You Can Expect
The role is responsible for managing the B-F Southern Africa Portfolio, consisting of:
Jack Daniel’s Family of Brands (Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7, Jack Daniel’s Flavours, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel, Gentleman Jack, and Jack Daniel’s RTDs*)
Tequila portfolio
Super premium american whisky & scotch portfolio
The role is responsible for leading the Southern Africa Marketing team, applying strong inspirational leadership skills to manage & motive a marketing team and, collaborating closely with our partners to deliver volume, value & brand health metric growth across the portfolio and, ahead of competitors in the Southern Africa territory.
This includes:
Leading, and working collaboratively with, local brand teams, Insights, IMC (Integrated Marketing Communications) & our distributor partner (Really Great Brands Company, RGBC) to develop an in-depth understanding of the various Southern African consumer groups and class leading communication strategies across consumer facing touch points.
Collaborating with B-F Global Brand Teams, equipping them with the necessary knowledge & insight, factored into global asset development; being a champion of our B-F principle of globally-led-locally-infused.
Agency management (Creative & Research), ensuring through-the-line campaign development across brands, underpinned by robust consumer insight, working collaboratively with IMC
Leading a collaborative partnership with RGBC, ensuring the appropriate levels of attention and focus are given to our B-F portfolio and, leading marketing development ensuring brand & activity planning are delivered in an inclusive manner.
Embedding a measurement & evaluation culture internally and externally
Portfolio Strategy and development
Track record of excellent team and people management, inclusive culture building. At the time of hiring, this role will have two direct reports:
Brand Manager - JD Family of Brands, Southern Africa
Brand Manager - Emerging Brands, Southern Africa
NB. As a growing business, additional headcount could report into this role
Responsible for the region’s brand expense (A&P), working with brand managers, Marketing Director, Finance & General Manager.
Is a representative of B-F externally
What You Bring to the Table
Honours Degree (NQF 8) in Business, Marketing, or similar discipline
Consumer marketing management experience of 7-9 years of experience
Leading teams & agencies
Strong financial acumen with understanding of P&Ls
Sound understanding of market, category & consumer data
Experience working across multiple markets in preferred
Experience working in large FMCG or alcoholic beverage industry preferred
Experience working on global brands & with global brand teams is desired
